Satellite TV
We understand that for many residents and in particular the elderly and disabled, the television is a vital part of everyday life. For many, the only form of information, entertainment and even friendship comes from the television and the merest hint therefore, that the service could be interrupted, is enough to cause widespread distress and alarm.
Telstar's aim is to ensure that its works are carried out as efficiently as possible with the least amount of disruption and distress and we would therefore recommend that in most cases the IRS system be deployed.
The most common and practical method of distributing a digital signal to multiple dwellings within a block of flats or communal building is via an Integrated Reception System (IRS).
In simple terms, IRS collects signals from both terrestrial and satellite transmitters as well as radio signals from new Digital Radio Broadcasts (DAB). Each dwelling is connected to this receiver by a series of cables, fitted either internally or externally depending on the initial survey. A simple wall plate in the main room allows the resident to choose their chosen digital service.
Not only is the system simple and effective it also places the onus of choice on the resident and so negates the Housing Association from having to be prescriptive in selecting a digital provider.
