Hermitage Housing - The Guinness Partnership
Hermitage Housing manages and maintains around 3800 homes in and around Hampshire including a portfolio of properties in Southampton and Portsmouth.
In 2004, Hermitage Housing took the initiative and sought tenders for the upgrade of their Communal Television Systems in readiness of the UK Digital Switchover.
Having identified a total of 2000 homes that needed upgrading, Telstar was invited to survey the housing stock and submit a tender to install Integrated Reception Systems for all the residents. Due to financial constraints and the sheer scale of the project, it was agreed that the works be phased in over a four year period.
Hermitage Housing has a diverse range of housing stock, from sheltered accommodation for the elderly through to family homes and assisted homes for the vulnerable. Many of the properties are located in dense urban areas with a number of the tower blocks having eight storeys or more; as a result Telstar had to implement its working at height directive to ensure a safe installation.
As we enter the final phase of this £500,000 project Telstar is in the process of arranging an on-going maintenance and service agreement to ensure the levels of service are maintained long after their engineers depart the scene.
