Access and Door Security
Hotels and leisure complexes must balance the need for security whilst also allowing visitors and guest's freedom to roam and staff access to all areas. As a result Telstar offers has a range of different systems which can allow the management differing levels of access control.
Key systems include;
Magnetic Swipe - Swipe cards are now the preferred method of gaining entry to hotels rooms. A swipe card programmer is located in reception; the receptionist programmes the card, and each room door recognises the unique magnetic strip and unlocks the room. The system is flexible and cost effective as cards are very cheap to replace if lost.
Audio Door Entry - The audio door entry system consists of an entrance panel which allows visitors to call the reception and be identified audibly via the intercom. The reception receives the call through a handset which has the facility of unlocking the main entrance door.
Video Door Entry - The video door entry system offers a higher level of security than the audio system, as the receptionist is able to see and talk to the callers before opening the door. In this case the entrance panel has a small high resolution camera placed behind a protective glass shield.
The audio and video signals are then received by the receptionist through a telephone handset, with a mono or colour LCD display. Once the caller is visually identified the door can be opened by pressing a button on the handset.
Keypad - Access through doors is by means of a digital keypad and electric lock release.
Proximity Detection - Entry is gained by using a pre-coded keyfob device which is simply presented to within 10cm of the control plate. The keyfobs are easily programmed onto or deleted off the database. This is particularly useful in busy working environments where there is a constant footfall of personnel.
